Young Cordelia and Beowulf Aubrwood Eddison on a pleasantly sunny day somewhere along the Driftwood Hollow coast. Cordelia had found the prettiest shell in the shallows... rather unlucky that there's a large, less-than-friendly hermit crab still calling it home.
This piece is so seasonally challenged, it isn't even funny, haha, but I like it all the same. I have no clue how long this took, but I was working on the original sketch on and off for three days and the coloring/shading/effects were done in two days.
Aww..A nice little scene here. ^^ One thing that immdeiatly stands out to me is this: The more mute tones of the background help the characters stand out more. Another thing I thought was interesting in regards to the characters and background is how the background has that realistic, impressionistic quality while the characters are stylized and defined. The way you shaded the characters look quite smooth and nice touch with the sprinkling of the sand over their bodies and faces. ^^ Tis a nice piece altogether. Sorry I couldn't think of more to comment on at the moment or point out anything that would need improvement. XD;

The background actually is a photo of a place known as Driftwood Beach that I heavily edited with filters and overlay layers to try and dumb down the realism enough so that Cordelia and Beowulf could fit well into the picture, hehe. I'm still uncertain whether or not I succeeded... and the shine on the water is a bit off. Oh, and the sand is actually the way that I habitually CG freckles, but i suppose some of it could be sand since I kinda went a little overboard this time around, haha.
Eeeeeee, thank you ever so much for passing by, Mech, and I'm glad that you like it. <3 Worked insanely long on this one, heh.

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

XD; Ah, no, no. My bad. I thought they were freckles at first, but wasn't entirely sure of myself.
You're welcome. ^^ Well worth the effort, I say. Looking forward to whatever you're working on next.
